Doors Open, and Culture Days.

Well, in January, things looked so very exciting! We were partnering with the Town of Innisfil and Innisfil ideaLAB & Library again this year. Continuing the awareness of 'Public Art in Uncommon Places' and participating in International Sculpture Day Innisfil, #ISDAY on April 25, and Innisfil's i200 year Celebrations, Doors Open in September, and Culture Day, with most of the members participating in a sculpture exhibition at 'be contemporary gallery.' It was going to be a fantastic year, but the pandemic hit and the world closed down and send into isolation as of March 14, 2020. Luckily Gail Esau's installation was installed early at Innisfil's Town Hall, Innisfil Beach Road, and it was a beacon of hope that more would follow.

#ISDay Innisfil, April 25th rolled around and celebrated despite COVID-19, we got creative. Jeanette Luchese brought the 'Gathering' together on her porch for neighbours to enjoy as they drove by, all social distanced.

We all were indebted to the first responders, those that were deemed 'essential' and continued working: nurses, doctors, hospitals, and more. Others stayed home and baked, some made art, but all events were put on hold or cancelled.  June, July, saw a light as case numbers started to lower. Member Christina Luck decided to forge forward creating Earth Art as planned to Celebrating Innisfil's 200 years and #ISDay, and 'be contemporary gallery' decided to move forward with the sculpure exhibition in September. So there seem to be hope, but definitely things changed.

So here we are. Christina Luck has completed her Earth Art pieces, Tim Laurin, Gail Esau's work is ready to be installed, and Jeanette Luchese progresses. Guest artist Ted Fullerton is prepared. A slideshow will be shared online and at 'be contemporary gallery' starting in October. We will be highlighting all the work here as it progresses and excited 'be contemporary's sculpture exhibition will be included in the festivities helping us bring art and culture to Innisfil. All Public Art will be installed in the Spring, 2021 so get ready to celebrate next year.
